Hello lovely souls,
Oooft these past few weeks have been like a buffet. A little bit of this a little bit of that and before you know it you’ve piled your plate and bitten off more than you can chew. Between filming/editing for YouTube (which is a mammoth task in itself) and market preparation, I already felt pretty full. Toss a (very) short deadline into the mix and we have well and truly stuffed ourself to the brim.
Is it odd that I feel grateful for when things go different to how I planned. Hear me out. I feel like every time I make an ugly piece of artwork or I need to navigate my way through a difficult project, an injury, or whatever life throws our way, the more I learn to… laugh at it…shrug it off…and without fail follow it up with classic “it is what it is”.
Third time was not a charm
This video took five full re-edits. This print took three ugly painting attempts, one of which I spilt paint water all over. The shopper bags (coming soon) took roughly ten drafts. The client project took six days of negotiating, three rounds of amendments and whole lot of squeezing all the above into normal life stuff.
I share this because…I want you to know i’m just as higgledy piggledy as the next human. I also look disheveled and worn out 90% of the time. Sometimes it’s just nice to realise “huh…I guess i’m not the only one”.
*See this video as proof to all of the above*
There’s a little mantra I like to use when time isn’t on my side or things maybe don’t go completely to plan; Something is better than nothing. Done is better than perfect.
Papa’s Lovely Soul’s got a brand new bag
Definitely in my green phase aren’t I? I must’ve tested about a dozen different greens until I settled on this little Pantone shade.
It’s ironic that i’m going to have to rely on people to scroll to find my “Less Scrolling. More Strolling” bag. Nonetheless this might be my favourite little wearable i’ve made to date.
Come say hey, i’d like that! I’ll be at:
✿ National Galleries of Scotland ✿ 25.08.24 ✿ 10am-5pm ✿
Sooo if you like a natter, pretty things, supporting the arts and little businesses then you’ll want to add this one to your calendar.
I’ve been working on lots of new paintings, prints and this little shopper bag of course.
Okay my lovely souls, i’ll touch base again soon and the next one will most likely be filled with sunny, colourful inspiration gathered from Greece (I leave the day after the market)…see what I mean with everything happens at once.
Until next time,
I see your art, and I think, man I want to do that.
I’m home in Malta till the 25th but please save me a tote and I will fling my money at you I want it very badly! 🔥
